See the durable Clash II in action

Meet the Penn Clash II.

The Clash II is lightweight, precise, and most importantly: durable.

This reel can pump the brakes on a big sneaky snook and finesse skittish bonefish with light leader thanks to our proprietary CNC gear technology and HT-100 carbon fiber drag system. Not all of us are fair-weather anglers, and fishing despite the forecast can test a reel’s durability. With features like our Clutch Armor System and hydrophobic line roller bearing to protect its more important internals, the Clash II performs even in the nastiest conditions.

Cast after cast, and catch after catch this reel will stay smooth and strong.

CNC Gear™ Technology with a Brass Pinion & Aluminum Main Gear

Durability , Smoothness, and Precision is what CNCGear™ Technology delivers. By using state of the art software and CNC machinery the drive, pinion, and oscillation gears are cut to exact tolerances using premium metals. CNC machinery cuts gears directly out of a solid piece of metal, giving it more precision and resilience than other manufacturing processes that utilize molds to shape gears. This provides precision and therefore exact alignment, which means smooth performance. Smooth performance directly correlates to durability and allows you to stay on the water longer and catch more fish.

Leveline® Slow Oscillation System

HT-100™ Carbon Fiber Drag System

HT-100 carbon fiber drag washers provide smooth drag under heavy loads. All HT-100 washers are greased with our proprietary PENN® grease for longevity. ‘HT’ stands for High Tech, with the ‘100’ indicating that 100 miles of line can be pulled off of the reel with no wear on the drag washers.

Hydrophobic Line Roller Bearing

On most spinning reels the line roller bearing is a crucial point that can become weak due to saltwater exposure. The Clash II features a specialized line roller bearing with hydrophobic properties which prevents saltwater from penetrating the bearing and causing harm or deterioration.

Clutch Armor System

This proprietary system includes seals around the rotor and the pinion gear that protect the pinion assembly, including the clutch. This is the most critical area on a reel to protect.

3000/4000 Standards have a paddle knob and include a power knob in the box.

(3000/4000 High Speeds have a power knob only.)

Catch more redfish and seatrout with a popping cork

Choosing the correct tackle and rigging right for one of the most effective inshore fishing tactics.

Out of the box, a popping cork looks like an unlikely fishing rig. Long, gaudy, complicated and awkward, the popular inshore set-up must have been invented by a mad scientist. But, in the right hands, a popping cork is one of the most effective lures for redfish and trout. READ POST

Pro Topwater Strategies for Redfish and Seatrout

It takes nerves of steel and fine-tuned tackle to fool fish with walkers and poppers.

Pop, pop, kaboom, the sound of a speckled trout striking a topwater lure travels through the ears and into the brain. Blood rushes to every muscle, the eyes dilate, hairs stand up on the back of the neck, and the mouth lets out a whooping holler. READ POST
